Barghest is a Baton Rouge, LA based band who formed in early 2006, from the looks of things. Barghest play a dark, filthy, ominous, and oppressive sounding style of music that incorporates elements of black metal, doom, and sludge within their sound. Musically, Barghest can be loosely compared to bands such as Fistula, Churchburn, Noose Rot, Tomb Mold, Black Tomb, and other like-minded bands. Since forming in 2014, Barghest have released a three song 12" titled Into Weeping Firmament, a split 10" with Thou, a split with False, and a seven song LP titled The Virtuous Purge in July 2011. Altars Of Rot is Barghest's latest full-length LP, which was released on July 10th, 2020. On Altars Of Rot, Barghest offer up seven tracks of raw, filthy, and abrasive sounding black metal, doom, and sludge. Overall, Altars Of Rot makes for an awesome listen and definitely should not be missed. Highly recommended! Enjoy!
