CRADLE

solid metalcore debut that shows a lot of promise. i like where these guys are going. all out war is an obvious comparison and you'll get no complaints from me for that. "for those who were crucified" and "assassins in the house of god" are 2 of my favorites from that era.

HEATHEN PRAYER

this band was built for this blog. they are exactly the type of band that sucked me in to dead air at the pulpit and kept coming back 7 or 8 years ago. 100% a perfect mixture of trap them and cursed. this shit rips and i fucking love it.

State Of The Blog Address

Hello everyone, how's it going? I don't really know what to write here, but I did just pay for 2 more years for the domain address, so I guess the blog won't be closing down officially for a while. What will happen in those 2 years, I have no fucking idea, because I just can't seem to get into the groove of posting anything regular. I know that none of you are pissed off about it or anything, but I'm sure some of you are bummed. And I am too. My Mom also passed away unexpectedly in May so that fucked me up pretty good. I've tried to post stuff here and there, but I just can't seem to write any kind of review. Part of that is that I've kind of lost the love of seeking out new music. To be honest, I listen to Spotify almost exclusively these days. I'm pretty out of the loop otherwise. I love that the chat is still going strong and well behaved though. I have tried to post some interesting new free stuff from Bandcamp, which is kind of nostalgic for me because that's basically how this blog started, but even that isn't very fulfilling. Chris is very busy and got very burned out as well, and Jerm is... well, Jerm is Jerm (haha just kidding buddy). So I don't know how many regular posts you're actually going to see here. I've mentioned this before but no one has ever really taken me up on it, but if you are interested in posting stuff on the main page, whether it be reviews, links, pictures, videos, new stuff, old stuff... whatever, just email me. Help is always appreciated. Later.

ENVOYER

i'm sitting here on a saturday night exhausted having slept less than 2 hours out of the last 24. tooth is killing me(dentists are your friends kids). trying to get drunk enough to dull the pain and pass out for a few hours. enter envoyer. i don't know shit about this band other than they were from rochester NY and apparently released one album(a great one) 11 years ago and then disappeared off the face of the earth. i do know that they've clearly studied their botch (new song! *happy face*) (no they aren't back. *sad face*). i don't even remember what i was looking for when i found them but i'm glad i did. this album is a ripper. gets in. smashes your face. gets out. i like.

Headcrawl is a pummeling, dual-bass, grinding sludge band from Toronto that also happens to feature our good friend A66RON. This thing is fantastic and very impressive. If this is only the demo, I can't wait to hear more.

UPDATE from A66RON: Our old bassist reported the album on our bandcamp and got it removed. fuck Ian Zuke. if you're interested in listening you can download it from my google drive here

Hot Corpse - Summer Demo

Check out this killer demo from Hot Corpse, featuring members of  Blight Future, Path Of Might, Coffin Fit, Life Sucks, and many more. They are out here trying to find the middle ground between Cursed and Every Time I Die, and that is a noble cause indeed.

YOUNG DEVILS

came across these guys by way of henry derek elis and the murderfolk tag on bandcamp. some good dark folk/country/americana here. which is odd considering these guys are from the uk. a more sinister 16 horsepower would be good way to describe this. or i guess henry derek elis as well. either way it's some dark, moody shit and i dig the hell out of it.

Throwe - Forfald (2022)

Greed Worm - Hell Is Real (2022)

Anna Sage - Self Titled (2022)

Abrupt Decay - I Was Never Here (2022)

Scent Of Death - Life Is Such Agony (2022)

...But the Shadows Have Foes - A Great Variety of Morbid Symptoms

END TIMES

first of all, i could have swore i posted these guys before but i guess not. second, i love the artwork for this album. so much happening and you don't notice it all right away. kind of reminds me of old sepultura or slayer album covers. the more you stare, the more you notice. kind of like the music on display here. a bit of thrash. a bit of hardcore. a bit of death metal. a bit of melody. a bit of crossover. all fanfuckingtastic. not sure how active these guys are. this came out in 2013. there was a promo from a 2019 but nothing since.

MORBID CROSS

i posted the debut from these guys a few years ago and they finally followed it up. fantastically thrashtastically by the way. picks right up where the debut left off. been on a major thrash kick lately and morbid cross has been a big part it. no frills. just riffs. no pretentiousness. just thrash. and it's goddamn glorious.

BLEED

gotten kind of lucky lately with coming across bands i feel like posting on the blog. i don't seek out a of new bands like i used to. gotten used to relying on old faithful bands and albums. maybe it comes with age. i'm 43 now. makes me feel even older typing it out. fuck you. and now that ive mentioned my advanced age, heres bleed. other than that theyre from texas and, oddly enough, apparently signed to 20 buck spin(more on that in a minute), i don't know much about them. look at that album cover for a moment....screams late 90s/early 00s alt/nu metal doesnt it? yes it does. what about the music? sounds like a few kids found their dads nu metal cd collection and rolled with it. its a throwback that i welcome when done properly. and these kids did. i dont know that theyre kids but at my age, anyone under 30 is a kid. i don't listen to near the amount of nu that i used to but some of those bands i still hang on to. early korn, mudvayne and deftones. all of nothingface, american head charge and dry kill logic. i made a comment on the PRP yesterday about these guys and i described them as if daniel johns fronted a nu/alt metal band. i stand by that. this is a promising debut and i guess theres a full length in the works being put out by 20 buck spin. cant fucking wait for that. and if youre worried, no theres no angry white suburban guy rapping here. havent listened to them in years(so i could be wrong) but early grinspoon seems like a good comparison as well. at least in sound.. 20 buck spin took a chance, so can you.

DEAD REGISTER

got a promo for the new album from this band yesterday. never heard of them but the promo material intrigued me. and damn. i'm kind of at a loss to describe them. i could make comparisons but they'd probably all be wrong. i'll do it anyway. type o negative. spotlights. the cure. soror dolorosa. beastmilk/grave plaesures. wailin storms. killing joke. the wipers. or maybe none of those. i dont know. but what i do know is that this is some doomy gloomy gothy sad bastard shit and it's goddamn glorious. god. damn. glori. ous.

HARROWED- UNSEEN HANDS

i owe my love of this band to adam and this blog. cursed is long gone. trap them is long gone. harrowed is by far my favorite hardcore band still standing. their 2013 lp "into inferno" was in my top 50 all time list from a couple years ago. 2019s "chaotic nonentity" made my year end list that year. even at only 4 songs, it's highly likely that "unseen hands" tops my list this year. this ep is a ripper. as good as the last album was, these 4 songs are better. this is the best harrowed have ever sounded. the production is clear. the band is tight. theres a touch of ringworm added to the mix in both thrashiness and, ive never noticed it till this ep, a bit of human furnace showing up in the vocals. cursed. trap them. and now ringworm. goddamn that combo of sounds. its a goddamn fantastic 9 minutes.

KAABALH

just found this a few days ago and i've listened repeatedly since. some slow and low death/doom metal. goddamn this is good. really fucking good. definite incantation influence but with less murk. i love this album.
