Barghest is a Baton Rouge, LA based band who formed in early 2006, from the looks of things.  Barghest play a dark, filthy, ominous, and oppressive sounding style of music that incorporates elements of black metal, doom, and sludge within their sound.  Musically, Barghest can be loosely compared to bands such as Fistula, Churchburn, Noose Rot, Tomb Mold, Black Tomb, and other like-minded bands.  Since forming in 2014, Barghest have released a three song 12" titled Into Weeping Firmament, a split 10" with Thou, a split with False, and a seven song LP titled The Virtuous Purge in July 2011.  Altars Of Rot is Barghest's latest full-length LP, which was released on July 10th, 2020.  On Altars Of Rot, Barghest offer up seven tracks of raw, filthy, and abrasive sounding black metal, doom, and sludge.  Overall, Altars Of Rot makes for an awesome listen and definitely should not be missed.  Highly recommended!  Enjoy!

Barghest have emerged from the murky waters of the Mississippi River with the goal of unleashing strife and hate upon the landscape. These fours songs contain a caustic mix of early Black Metal tempered with the undying mentality and drive of Punk. With a growing reputation in tow, these Baton Rouge, LA natives look to further drive the stake of disdain and outright disgust for humanity into it’s heart. Ripe with blast beats that act as a tornado of razor blades and vocals that peel the paint off walls, and accompanied by chaotic guitars that beckon one to step foot in their moss-covered, humidity-choked crypt. On the other side of the spectrum dwells the sonic abomination known as TEETH, a witches cauldron of Death Metal, Black Metal and Doom. As a result of this repugnant alchemist's mixture of sound, TEETH have swirled these influences together, thus creating one thing: pure sonic devastation. These California natives have crafted a tapestry that further expands upon their maligned and highly regarded first release, Unremittance.
