Drowse is the musical project of Kyle Bate from Portland Oregon, who started releasing music under the moniker Drowse in 2013. Drowse plays a dark, atmospheric, moody, and difficult to pigeonhole style of music that incorporates elements of shoegaze, slowcore, black metal, folk, art rock, and indie rock within their sound. Since forming in 2013, Drowse have released a three song EP titled Songs To Sleep On in December of 2013, a seven song LP titled Naive Sleep in January of 2014, a six song EP titled Soon Asleep in June of 2015, a three song EP titled Memory Bed in August of 2016, a two song EP titled Covered in October of 2015, a split EP with Planning For Burial in July of 2018, and a twelve song LP titled Cold Air in March of 2018, an eleven song LP titled Light Mirror in June of 2019, and split cassette with Amulets in November of 2019. Second Self is Drowse's latest collaboration 12", which was released via The Flenser label on September 20th, 2019. Second Self is a collaboration with Elizabeth Colour Wheel's Lane Shi Otayonii. On Second Self, Drowse offer up four tracks of dark, moody, and haunting shoegaze, slowcore, black metal, folk, art rock, indie rock, and experimental rock. Overall, Second Self makes for an amazing listen and definitely should not be missed. Highly recommended! Enjoy!
