Lexemes is a one piece band from Portland, Maine who formed in 2016, from the looks of things. Lexemes play a killer style of music that incorporates elements of post metal, black metal, blackgaze, doom, and industrial noise within their sound. Musically, Lexemes can be very loosely compared to band such as Author And Punisher, Wreck And Reference, Planning For Burial, Sannhet, and other like-minded bands. Since forming in 2016, Lexemes has released a four song LP titled What A Terrible Time To Be Alive in September of 2016, a five song LP titled Bright Bath Of Fire in November of 2016, and a digital single titled 微不足道 in March of 2019. Barbarous Refinements is Lexemes' latest LP, which was released via Crown & Thorn Ltd. on February 15th, 2019. On Barbarous Refinements, Lexemes offer up nine tracks of killer post metal, black metal, blackgaze, doom, and experimental industrial. Overall, Barbarous Refinements makes for an awesome listen and definitely should not be missed. Highly recommended! Enjoy!
