Another Update On The New Chat(s)

Well, it turns out that when I added a 2nd chat to the site, I could have also upgraded the chats at the same time for free from Version 8 to Version 10. So, I've done just that. I'm not 100% in love with them but I think most of that is just because they are a little different. I think in time we will all get used to them. These new versions are better in most ways, some better features and an overall slicker look. Here are some of the upgrades, and as always, email me if you have any issues.

  • Inline message history. Simply scroll down to load older messages. This alone made me want to do this upgrade. I really hated the pop-up previous & next pages in the old chats.
  • Registration and login. It's clearer and quicker to register a name and log in with it. Just enter your name  and then click on the icon on the right side of the text field:

  • Private Messaging. Once logged in, you can click the menu (3 dots) on the right side of a message to send a private message to another registered user. I've never actually tried this before so who knows what it will actually look like:

  • Better Design. In general, things are cleaned up and just work better. The smileys now pop up nicely, clicking the group icon will show you exactly who is online at that time, and things are less clunky, overall.
  • Avatars. Users can now upload pictures from within Cbox. I have actually disabled this function but we can try it out if there is enough interest. I just felt that it took up too much space in the chat, and for everyone that does not upload an avatar, there is just a blank grey box and it just didn't look very good.
