False Brother is a four piece band from Kansas City, Missouri who formed in 2015, from the looks of things.  False Brother play a killer style of music that incorporates elements of post punk and punk within their sound.  Musically, False Brother can be loosely compared to bands such as Diat, Total Control, Torture Love, Urochromes, Institute and other like-minded bands.  Since forming in 2015, False Brother have released a self-titled LP in September of 2016.  Uncanny Valley is the band's latest full-length LP, which was released via Iron Lung records on April 24th, 2020.  On Uncanny Valley, False Brother offer up nine tracks of dark, moody, and tense sounding post punk/punk.  Overall, Uncanny Valley makes for an awesome listen and definitely should not be missed.  Highly recommended!  Enjoy!

Canyons is a four piece band from Kansas City, Missouri who formed in 2008.  Canyons play a loud, dirty, and completely blown-out style of music that incorporates elements of hardcore, punk, sludge, post hardcore, and noise rock.  Canyons can be said to be influenced by bands such as Fight Amp, Coalesce, Botch, Breather Resist, Engineer, and other like-minded bands.  Since their inception in 2008, a three song tour demo in July of 2008, a split with Regret, The Informer in December of 2008, a split with Mons Wolf in July of 2009, a compilation of their earlier material called Rufus Collection in February of 2010, a 3-way split LP titled Can't Have Nothing Nice with Tigon and Foreign Theaters in November of 2010, a split with Creeper in June of 2013, a 6-way split LP with Wounded Knee, Sohns, Anodes, American Thunder Band, and Duck. Little Brother, Duck! in October of 2015, a four way split 7" with Life In A Vacuum, Crowning, and Hundreds Of AU in May of 2019, and a nine song 12" titled One Man's Trash in late 2019.  Stay Buried is Canyons' latest album, which was released digitally via The Ghost Is Clear records on August 7th, 2020.  On Stay Buried, Canyons offer up nine tracks of sludgy and noise damaged hardcore.  Overall, Stay Buried makes for an awesome listen and definitely should not be missed.  Highly recommended!  Enjoy!

DODECAD is a three piece band from Missouri who formed in 2014, from the looks of things,  DODECAD play a killer style of music that incorporates elements of sludge, noise rock, and math rock within their sound.  Musically, DODECAD can be said to be influenced by bands such as Playing Enemy, Botch, Oxes, Achilles, Coalesce and other like-minded bands.  Since forming in 2014, DODECAD have released a three song EP titled Impotence in July of 2015 and a three song EP titled Growth in October of 2015.  Contempt is the band's latest six song EP, which was released on September 13th, 2017.  On Contempt DODECAD offer up six tracks of sludge, noise rock, and math rock.  Overall, Contempt makes for an amazing listen!  Highly recommended! Primitive Man is a three piece band from Denver, Colorado who formed in early 2013.  Primitive play a raw, dark, and dirty style of music that incorporates elements of black metal, doom, sludge, and noisecore within their sound.  Since forming in 2013, Primitive Man have released a seven song 12" titled Scorn in August of 2013, a split 7" with Xaphan in January of 2014, a split 10" with Hexis in April of 2014, a split 12" with Hessian in July of 2014, a four song 12" titled Home Is Where The Hatred is in February of 2015, a two song 12" titled Futility+Untitled in June of 2015, a split 12" with Northless in February of 2016, and a split 12" with Sea Bastard in March of 2016.  The second band on the split is Fister.  Fister is a three piece doom, black metal, and sludge band from St. Louis Missouri who formed in 2011.  Since forming in 2011, Fister have released a five song EP titled Bronsonc in January of 2011, a three song EP titled And Their Masters Bled For Days in January of 2011, a twelve song demo titled 3424 in March of 2012, a two song 12" titled The Infernal Paramount in May of 2012, a five song EP titled Violence in February of 2012, a three song EP titled 5902 Demos in August of 2012, a seven song EP titled Gemini in March of 2013, an eight song LP titled Good Friday in August of 2013, a split with Norska in February of 2014, a one song LP titled IV in March of 2015, a split 7" with Everything Went Black in April of 2016, a split 7" with Teeth in April of 2016, and a split with Dopethrone in March of 2016.  This is the band's split with Primitive Man, which was released on November 29th, 2014.  On this split 12", Primitive Man and Fister offer up five tracks of raw, dirty, and completely blown out black metal, doom, and sludge.  Overall, this is a phenomenal split and should not be missed.  Highly recommended!  Enjoy!

Roachblunt is a Kansas City, Missouri based band featuring member of Canyons.  Roachblunt play a spastic style of music that fuses elements of art damaged noise punk, noise rock, and hints of alt. rock within their sound.  Musically, Roachblunt can be loosely compared to bands such as Arab On Radar, Blood Brothers, Chinese Stars, Monorchid, and other bands related to the early 31G records scene in the early to mid-2000's.  Roachblunt's sound can be best described as being raw, blown out, unsettling, and completely unhinged.  Tobacco Use Only is the band's debut eight track cassette, which was released via Puddle Jumper Distribution on February 16th, 2016.  On Tobacco Use Only, Roachblunt offer up eight tracks of raw, off-kilter, and unhinged sounding noise punk, noise rock, and alt. rock.  Overall, Tobacco Use Only is a killer LP and should not be missed.  Highly recommended!  Enjoy!

Couch Lock is a three piece band from Kansas City, Missouri who formed in early 2015, from what I can tell.  Couch Lock play a killer style of music that mixes equal parts punk and emo.  Musically, Couch Lock can be said to be influenced by bands such As Friends Rust, Lifetime, Braid, as well as more modern bands such as Coping, Snowing and Street Smart Cyclist.  Couch Arrest/Couch Depressed is the band's latest ten song cassette, which compiles the band's two EPs into one format.  On Couch Arrest/Couch Depressed, Couch Lock offer up ten tracks of slightly off kilter and catchy as hell sounding punk and emo.  Overall, Couch Arrest/Couch Depressed is a killer cassette and should not be missed.  Highly recommended!  Enjoy!  Couch Arrest/Couch Depressed was released via The Ghost Is Clear records on January 22nd, 2016.

Holy Fucking Shit!  This EP absolutely smokes.  Spine is a four piece band from Kansas City, Mo and Chicago, IL who formed in the summer of 2011.  Spine play a vicious and brutal as fuck style of hardcore.  Musically, Spine can be said to be influenced by bands such as DYS, Negative Approach, Left For Dead, and Infest.  Since their inception in 2011, Spine have released a seven song demo titled Running Out in August of 2011, a six song EP titled Subhuman in September of 2012, a split EP with The Repos in October of 2013  a seven song Promo EP in February of 2014, and thirteen song LP titled Time Has Gone in December of 2014.  Deny is the band's latest six song EP, which was released via Bad Teeth Recordings on January 22nd of 2016.  On Deny, Spine offer up six new tracks of blazing, ferocious, and vicious as fuck sounding hardcore that's an absolute must listen for fans of Weekend Nachos, The Rival Mob, Mind Eraser, Total Abuse, Hoax, and other like-minded bands.  Overall, Deny is an amazing EP and should not be missed.  Highly recommended!  Enjoy!

White Fire was a three piece band from Kansas City, Missouri who formed in 2012.  White Fire play a killer style of music that incorporates elements of post hardcore, punk, sludge, and noise rock within their sound.  Musically, White Fire can be said to be influenced by bands such as These Arms Are Snakes, Aeges, Torche, Big Business, and other like-minded bands.  Since their inception in 2012, White Fire have released a nine song LP titled Tomes in September of 2013.  Burned In Effigy is White Fire's final four song EP, which was released on September 7th of 2015.  On In Effigy. White Fire offer up four tracks of really well executed post hardcore, punk, sludge, and noise rock.  Overall, Burned In Effigy is a killer EP and it's really too bad White Fire called it a day because these songs really kick ass.  Highly recommended!  Enjoy!

Here's a killer split LP featuring new material from two St. Louis, Missouri based bands.St.  The first band on the split is Laika.  Laika is a four piece band who got their start in 2012.  Laika play a killer style of music that incorporates elements of post hardcore, math rock, punk, and screamo.  Musically, Laika can be loosely compared to bands such as Wounded Knee, Calculator, Beau Navire, and Todos Caeran.  On their side of the split Laika offer up three tracks of killer post hardcore, math rock, and screamo.  The next four tracks on the split come courtesy of Anodes.  Anodes is a four piece post hardcore, punk, and screamo who formed in 2012.  Anodes play a similar style of music as Laika, but Anodes' sound is more chaortic and volatile while Laika leans towards the melodic end of the post hardcore/screamo spectrum.  On their side of the split, Anodes offer up four tracks of killer post hardcore and screamo that's an absolute must listen for fans of The Saddest Landscape, Saetia, and You And I.  Overall, this is a killer split and should not be missed.  Highly recommended!  Enjoy!  This album was released on September 18th 2015 and is currently available through Anodes' bandcamp page.

Dark Ages-Vapor LP (2015)

Dark Ages is a four piece hardcore band from Kansas City, Missouri who formed in 2009 or 2010, from the looks of things.  Dark Ages play a dark, raw, and stripped down style of 80's inspired hardcore.  Musically, Dark Ages can be said to be influenced by bands such as Poison Idea, Articles Of Faith, and Die Kreuzen.  Since their inception, Dark Ages have released two 7"s and a full-length LP titled Can America Survive?, which was released via Sorry State records back in 2011.  Vapor is Dark Ages' latest full-length LP, which is an effort that is four years in the making.  On their latest LP, Dark Ages have their stripped down 80's inspired hardcore down to a science.  Vapor features ten songs in about 17 minutes.  These ten songs are visceral, dynamic and chock full of interesting timing changes that keeps the album interesting throughout the entire listen.  Seriously if you're a fan of stripped down 80's inspired modern hardcore, then Vapor is definitely an absolute must listen.  Overall, Dark Ages have really impressed the hell out of me with their latest LP.  Highly recommended!  Enjoy!  Vapor was released via Sorry State records on February 10th, 2015.
