GOLDUST - Thirst LP (2013) + Older Stuff

GOLDUST    ☼    FACEBOOK    BANDCAMP    BLOG

Yesterday on Facebook, Goldust announced that you can now download their newest LP "Thirst" for free at their Bandcamp page. You can pay what you want, starting at $0, and if you want to buy the vinyl, you can grab it at PER KORO. The free Bandcamp downloads are limited to 200/month, so I thought I would help them out and put up my own download link below, along with a few of their many other releases. If you're not familiar with Goldust, they're from Munster, Germany and have been laying the groundwork for many amazing German hardcore/crust bands since 2007. Musically influenced by Cursed, Tragedy & Integrity, they definitely have that perfect "German Hardcore" sound down. Needless to say, you should be downloading already. So, below is their new Thirst LP, the Soir LP which is a collection of split 7-inches with Deathrite, Full Of Hell, Curbbite & Juggernaut, plus 2 of their older LP's. Enjoy.

TEETHING - Splits & Compilations (2011-2013)

TEETHING    ☼    FACEBOOK    BANDCAMP    BIGCARTEL

I think I have a problem with stuff like powerviolence and grindcore in general, especially the young bands: I can’t get enough of your (love baby) music. Bands like Nails, Dead in the Dirt, Iron Lung… depending on which one I’m submerged in, I give one, two, three spins to their whole discography and then quickly it’s over, I fear abusing them like I did with Sepultura’s Beneath the Remains when I started getting into heavier stuff. The thing is now I cannot enjoy some albums as much as I did before, and it's not that they bore me, it's just that I abused them. So yeah, with Grindcore or Powerviolence bands I’m even more prone to fall into this, because it takes less time to listen to them, so you can go over and over, chain-spinning the records, and it pounds you like a hobo boxer on meth, fighting for a fix. And somehow you are getting your fix, you can even hum a ton of riffs, and start craving for new material. I hope not to abuse my new discovery, Teething, but I do start craving new material.

So now to get into the other side of Ravage Ritual split, we have Teething. This is no relaxing coffee with milk in main square, this will kick any eastern European olympic weightlifters' balls. This pounds you in unknown places inside of you, and makes you develop an even more masochistic impulse: to check them live. I’m high on this impulse, I don’t know how much it will hurt, but I crave that moment. I’m telling you, that moment will put all their DIY drenched violence in perspective when my innards stop hurting, hopefully learning to not abuse music anymore. So yeah, I have my faithful moments.

Teething come out blasting and grinding from Madrid, forming in 2011. In their 3 years of existence they have toured Scandinavia with Ravage Ritual, done some dates in Spain with Napalm Death (how dreamlike is that for a young Grindcore band!!) and released a 7’’, the aforementioned split with RR, another split with Besta and been part of a pair of compilations from several DIY labels. As I’ve told you, it won't take too long to check their entire recorded material, but its juicy and bludgeoning, it keeps you starving for more, maybe you will develop bruxism while you wait for Teething. In the meantime... SUPPORT!!

RAVAGE RITUAL- Split LP, EP & Demo (2011-2013)

RAVAGE RITUAL    ☼     FACEBOOK    BANDCAMP    TUMBLR

Seems like everyone in Finland has his own thing going: Mordicus, Kaurismaki, Circle, Oranssi Pazuzu, Beherit (DAAAAMN! how necro they were), don’t know if Hanoi Rocks also did, what I’ve heard is pretty cool for the amount of hairspray… even Bourdain’s episode in Finland is quite different from all I’ve checked from him, it’s fucking grim, something “politically incorrect” for a food/travelling show. Anyway, let’s stop ignoring the delicious shitload of Finnish blackened hardcore, crust d-beat, powerviolence, death and grind that could be infesting the dead air at this pulpit, but at this time are not. No worries, there’s a place for everyone that makes me (or Adam) interrupt my walks to work to pick up my jaw and ask myself “what the fuck is this?”, maybe like Mercyful Fate does every time I unbury their albums from my hard drive (how cheap am I!).

Ravage Ritual are a young Finnish blackened hardcore band from Seinäjoki and founded in 2011. The three releases in their catalogue, their EP, Split with Teething and Demo scream rabid freshness, of the finest kind you can expect from the spawn crossover between hardcore and extreme metal. Slickly produced, not too clean, balanced amount of dirt, groovy, sweet riffs, violent, grim and sometimes even atmospherical, I mean, shortly in the first track of the EP. This freshness is built upon eclecticism, and yes, be free to think they are ripping of your fave band, but not just one, a ton, reinterpreting all of them and making them their own. Who doesn’t? Just the not so cool bands I guess. DON’T MISS ANYTHING FROM THESE GUYS, it gets fresher and fresher, cooler and cooler, and one day for sure, ICE COLD. PERKELE!

CENTURIES - Broken Hymns & Taedium Vitae (2013)

CENTURIES    ☼    FACEBOOK    BANDCAMP    BIGCARTEL

Centuries, from Florida, are seriously one of the best bands on the planet right now. They do not know how to write a bad song. If you're a fan of Cursed, stop what you're doing and start listening to Centuries immediately, you will not be sorry. Earlier this year they put out sort of a compilation LP (Broken Hymns) that brought their out of print 7-inches plus 4 new songs together. Not long after that, they announced they had signed to Southern Lord and would be putting out a brand new LP (Taedium Vitae). If anything, this band is getting stronger and stronger because this new LP is a masterpiece. I can only hope that they don't break up. Ever.

FULL OF HELL - Rudiments Of Mutilation (2013)

FULL OF HELL    ☼    FACEBOOK    BANDCAMP    BLOG

The first sign that you are going to love Full Of Hell is that they are named after (I'm assuming) the Entombed song of the same name from the Wolverine Blues LP, which coincidentally, was released 20 years ago today, Oct 4th 1993. Now that's fucking crazy. Full of Hell is a hardcore punk/powerviolence band formed in 2009 and based in Ocean City, Maryland and central Pennsylvania. They have released two full-length albums and a shitload of 7-inches with Goldust, Code Orange Kids, Calm The Fire & The Guilt Of. I've been listening to their latest LP, Rudiments Of Mutilation a ton ever since I got it, and honestly I meant to post about it much sooner than now. It's 10 tracks of pure crust/grind/punk mayhem. You've got to check it out. And if you need to get ahold of their previous releases, head over to CUT & PASTE to get hooked up.

HANDS THAT MOLD - Self Titled (2013)

HANDS THAT MOLD    ☼    FACEBOOK    BANDCAMP

Hands That Mold is a hardcore/crust/sludge/grind band from Los Angeles. The band started life as Momento Mori, but changed names as it was just simply over-used. "Hands That Mold" is in reference to a Dystopia's song from their first album. Anyway, this band is a 4-piece wall of chaotic force that hits you like a ton of bricks. They list their influences as Nails, Gaza, Full Of Hell, The Chariot, Seizures, etc. So, you should know what you are getting into. And if you are in California, keep an eye out for them, they play a TON of rad shows. Grab their 6-song S/T EP and as the band says, spread that shit like a disease!

UNQUIET - This Is Darkness Descended LP (2009)

UNQUIET    ☼    FACEBOOK    BANDCAMP

Unquiet is a dark hardcore/crust band from Berlin, Germany that have been around for a while. First releasing long sold-out demo in 2008, they put out an LP in 2009. I don't know if they are still active or not but this just popped up on Bandcamp. Nearly every German hardcore/crust band is top notch, so you can rest assured that this is well worth a listen.

NATIVE GRAVES [R.I.P.] - Self Titled Demo (2013)

NATIVE GRAVES    ☼    FACEBOOK    BANDCAMP

I've posted about Native Graves before, so if you need a full write up on the band, go there. I'm posting about them again because they fucking broke up this summer. Shitty news because they sounded great! Earlier I posted 2 of their songs from this demo in crappy quality, but thankfully they have made all 4 songs free to download at their Bandcamp page. So, I deemed it worthy of a re-post. Don't miss it this time around.

SIBERIAN HELL SOUNDS - Self Titled EP (2013)

SIBERIAN HELL SOUNDS    ☼    FACEBOOK    BANDCAMP

The story goes that sometime in 1989, Russian scientists in Siberia had drilled a borehole some 14.5 kilometers deep into the Earth's crust. The drill broke through into a cavity, and the scientists lowered some equipment to see what was down there. The temperature was about 1,100°C (about 2,000°F), but the real shocker was the sound that was recorded. They only got about 17 seconds of audio before the microphone melted, but it was 17 horrifying seconds of the screams of the damned.

Proving that existence of a physical Hell on earth is SIBERIAN HELL SOUNDS, a new 3-piece from Brisbane, Australia. They just spawned an 8-song EP that dumps riff, upon riff on top of your fucking head. Starting off with a chilling intro by Dr. Azzacov himself, it never lets up after that. This is seriously one of the best things I've heard this year. Get this immediately and prepare yourself for another EP within the next couple of months.

SOKUSHINBUTSO - Holy Ground EP (2013)

SOKUSHINBUTSO    ☼    FACEBOOK    BANDCAMP

Sokushinbutsu refers to a practice of Buddhist monks observing austerity to the point of death and mummification. It is also the name of a brand new grindcore/death metal band from Baltimore, MD featuring members of Eddie Brock & Lapse. Mixed in with the blast beats are your standard hardcore drum beats, which I always appreciate. It makes it feel more like a 10-song EP instead of 5. Anyway, just grab this. It's evil as fuck. Just looking at that fucking logo make me want to put on some corpse paint.
