We Dream Alone is 5-piece band from Gothenburg, Sweden which formed in late 2012. They describe their style as New Wave of Gothenburg Metal, which exactly corresponds to what this band plays. It's a perfect blend of swedish melodic metal and atmospheric post metal combined with typical hardcore aggression and pummeling sludge elements. I'm pleasantly surprised by this band which i didn't know so far. 'ÆTHER' is their third full-length album, self-released on february, 28. As far as i could research there's no physical release announced until now. This is absolutely amazing stuff.! Highly recommended.!!

"Describing a band’s musical approach as 'straightforward' sounds similar to saying a person has a 'good personality', or like damning it with faint praise. Not Iron Gag, though. The New England-based quartet’s whole approach paints them as one of those why-go-around-when-you-can-plow-straight-through bands. Kind of like the Juggernaut, the virtually unstoppable X-Men villain, and likely just as fond of humanity.

The name Iron Gag alone radiates hostility. The music feels assaultive. Their debut long-player 'Malingering' sounds like Steve Albini losing his shit and spending two weeks feverishly pounding away on a manual typewriter in some off-the-grid manifesto shack. Imagine 'My Black Ass' from Shellac’s 'At Action Park', but with hair-trigger emotional volatility and considerably more abrasion - those are the album’s mellower moments. When they switch to grind mode on tracks like 'Trash Lungs' and the sardonic 'Sit and Spin', they take on a rapturously unsettling belligerence." ---

Amazing dark, metallic Hardcore from this relatively new outfit based in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. According to their facebook page, influences are coming from bands like Botch, Cursed, Neurosis, Baptists, The Hope Conspiracy, Outbreak and Breach, just to name a few. Started in 2014, Iron Gag released a 4-Track Cassette through Friend Catcher in 2015 and a 2-Track Demo in 2016. 'Malingering' is their debut full-length and was released on february 26. The only way to purchase a cassette is at Iron Gag's live shows. Vinyls will be released later this year through Crage Records.
Great stuff.! Highly recommended.!!

HOT SNAKES - Part 2

Dovetailing off of Chris's Hot Snakes post from January that featured the re-issues of their 3 studio albums, here is some other stuff from the band that I had. I'm really liking their new album and, in general, have been playing the shit out of this band. Hope this is of interest to some of you out there, and if so, maybe some of this will be new to you.

(U.S.) Misrule-Forced To Suffer Cs. (2018)

Country: USA
Genre: Grindcore, Crust, Black Metal,Noise

Label: Sentient Ruin Laboratories
Tracks: 5
Length: 7.21'

Unrelenting and completely out of control, "Forced to Suffer" is the ghastly debut demo tape by Portland, OR one man extreme death/grind aberration Misrule. Taking its name from a Nightbringer song and drawing life from the most abhorrent and scary strains of grindcore and extreme metal (as seen for example in other similarly sanity-defying acts like Vermin Womb, Knelt Rote, Plague Widow, Infernal Coil etc.), Misrule is an unrestrained and completely uncontrolled exercise in total aural terror. Within its framework of devastating extreme metal and tumefying aggression lies a critical mass of collapsing emotions and unravelling psychological horror that have yielded a mere eight minutes of absolutely unfathomable sonic terror, where themes of pain, punishment, bigotry, fear, and depression are funneled by sole mastermind S. Mahoney into a coercitive and utterly pulverizing amalgamation of ferocious grindcore obliteration and merciless blackened death metal chaos that defies any categorization. (Press Note)

*Holy fuck! This EP is absolutely amazing! Filthy and putrid sounding blackened grindcore, crust, and experimental noise that's an absolute must listen for fans of Vermin Womb, Noose Rot, Knelte Rote and other like-minded bands!  Highly recommended!  This killer EP was released on via Sentient Ruin Laboratories on March 1st, 2018.  Highly recommended!  Enjoy!
