Tempest-Passages 12" (2012)

Country: Canada
Genre: Hardcore, Punk, Crust, Metal
Label: Vitriol/React With Protest Records
Tracks: 7
Length: 24.0'

Press Note: Tempest is from Vancouver, BC. This band has been around for some time, aurally punishing people through the 2005 advent of too many fucking amps. But contrary to most, they are good. They play a heavy and chaotic hardcore that Roger still claims “doesn’t sound German,” but after this last summer where they had a rousingly successful European tour, it would suggest i was correct. If you are into depressed and blackened European hardcore with a nice metal patina, then this is for you my ridiculous friend. Prepare to traverse a loud atmospheric and elemental tonality, fueled by a lot of things including a love of throwing up next to the van (Steve) on the 2010 Ghostlimb/Tempest Canadian tour.

*I don't think this band is active any longer, but felt like throwing this review up on this site because Tempest were amazing.  The band's discography includes their Passages LP, which was released via Vitriol and React With Protest records in June of 2012 as well as a two song 7" titled Solace, which was released via Vitriol records in April of 2012.  Overall, Tempest offer up seven tracks of phenomenal hardcore, punk, crust, and metal.  Passages is an amazing album that still kicks ass to this day.  Enjoy!

Amygdala-The Horror Of Never Being Able To Forget 7" (2015)

Country: USA
Genre: Hardcore, Punk, Screamo
Label: React With Protest
Tracks: 6
Length: 12.0'

Amygdala are a five piece band from San Antonio, Texas who formed in early 2014, by the looks of things.  Amygdala play a killer style of music that incorporates elements of hardcore, punk, and screamo within their sound.  Musically, Amygdala can be said to be influenced by bands such as Saetia, You And I, Pg. 99, Ampere and other like-minded bands.  The Horror Of Never Being Able ToForget is the band's first 7" which was released via React With Protest records on January 15th, 2015.  On their debut 7", Amygdala offer up 6 tracks of chaotic and volatile female fronted hardcore, punk, and screamo.  Overall, The Horror Of Never Being Able To Forget is a killer 7" that should not be missed.  I also included Amygdala's latest split 7" with Germany's Saligia for you to check out as well.  That 7" totally kicks ass too.  Enjoy!

Cloud Rat-Qliphoth LP (2015)

Country: USA
Genre: Hardcore, Punk, Grindcore
Label: Halo Of Flies, IFB, 7 Degrees, Moment Of Collapse, React With Protest Records
Tracks: 17
Length: 41.0'

Cloud Rat are a four piece band from Mount Pleasant, Michigan who formed in December of 2009.  I've been a huge fan of Cloud Rat since hearing their self-titled LP back in 2010.  Cloud Rat has continued to grow and expand upon their sound, creating a truly unique take on modern hardcore, punk, and grindcore.  Since their inception in 2009, Cloud Rat have released an eleven track self-titled LP on IFB records in 2010, a split cassette with Xtra Vomit in 2010, a split 7" with Autarkeia in 2011, a 3-way split LP with Oily Menace and Wolbachia in 2011, a thirteen track LP titled Moksha on Halo Of Flies, IFB, React With Protest, 7 Degrees, and React With Protest in January of 2013, a split LP with Republic Of Dreams in 2012, s song for the Monomaniac Volume One 7" compilation in 2012, a song for the No Compromise (Earth First) compilation in 2013, and a split 7" with Orgullo Primitivo in 2014.  Qliphoth is Cloud Rat's latest seventeen track LP which is slated for release via Halo Of Flies, IFB, 7 Degrees, Moment Of Collapse, and React With Protest Records on May 29th, 2015.  Qliphoth is Cloud Rat's most diverse and scathing release to date.  On their latest LP, Cloud Rat offer up seventeen tracks of brutal as fuck and devastating hardcore, punk, and grindcore, that will keep you guessing at every twist and turn.  Seriously, Qliphoth is an amazing LP and will definitely be ending up on my best of lists for 2015.  Highly recommended!  Enjoy!
