Calyx is a three piece band from Pittsburgh, PA who formed in 2014, from the looks of things. Calyx play a killer style of music that incorporates elements of punk, grunge, and indie rock within their sound. Musically, Calyx can be loosely compared to bands such as Thin Lips, Lemuria, Cayetena, California X, and other like-minded bands. Since forming in 2014, Calyx have released a three song EP titled Build Up in July of 2014, a self-titled 12" in March of 2015, a digital single titled Cryin Elvis in August of 2016, a four song 7" titled Make A Freak Feel Clean in October of 2016, a two song EP titled For To, Oh in October of 2017, a three song demo in February of 2019, Stay Goone is the band's latest full-length LP, which was released via Ethospine and Salinas records on February 12th, 2021. On Stay Gone, Calyx offer up ten tracks of melodic and infectiously catchy punk, grunge, and indie rock. Overall, Calyx's Stay Gone makes for an awesome listen and definitely should not be missed.
