Bleak is a four piece band from Syracuse, NY who formed in early 2014,
from the looks of things. Bleak play a caustic, harsh, and brutal as
fuck sounding style of music that incorporates elements of hardcore,
punk, death metal, noise rock and sludge within their sound. Musically,
Bleak can be loosely compared to bands such as Vein, Baptists, Trap
Them, and Globe And Beast. Since forming in 2014, Bleak have released a
five song self-titled EP in September of 2014, a split with Sovereign
in February of 2015, a two song cassette titled Songs For Cowards in
January of 2016, a split with Hexist in January of 2016, a full-length
LP titled We Deserve Our Failures in August of 2015, a ten song LP titled No Light, No Tunnel in January of 2016, and a split 7" with
Dialysis in May of 2016. Here's Bleak's latest split with LA's Crowhurst. On their side of the split, Bleak offer up one track of harsh and abrasive sounding hardcore, punk, death metal, and sludge. The second track on the split comes courtesy of Crowhurst. Crowhurst is a musical project from Los Angeles, CA that features
members of Caïna and Aevangelist. Forming in 2011, Crowhurst play a
dark, ominous, and oppressive style of music that incorporates elements
of industrial, doom, sludge, black metal, and noise within their sound.
Musically, Crowhurst can be said to be influenced by bands such as
Neurosis, Swans, Ministry, and the more experimental side of The Body. On their side of the split Crowhurst offer up one track of dark and atmospheric industrial, sludge, doom, black metal, and noise. Overall this is a killer split and should not be missed. Highly recommended! Enjoy!
