Sangus is a five piece band from Providence, Rhode Island, who formed in 2012.  Sangus play a scathing and completely unhinged style of music draws inspiration from black metal, thrash, and a bit of a holy terror hardcore thrown in for good measure.  Sangus' can be loosely compared to bands such as Power Trip, Noisem, Ghenna, Intrgrity, and Black Breath.  These comparisons are only a good starting point of reference, because Sangus has a sound and style that's unique and completely their own.  Since their inception in 2012, Sangus have released a three song EP titled Vengeful Brutality in May of 2013 and a four song 7" titled Saevitia in July of 2014.  Pedicabo Mundi is the band's latest ten song EP, which was released on CD via ForzaMorte records on September 6th, 2015.  On Pedicabo Mundi, Sangus offer up ten tracks of raw, scathing, and brutal as fuck sounding black metal, hardcore, punk, and thrash.  Overall, Pedicabo Mundi is a killer EP and should not be missed.  Highly recommended!  Enjoy!  Look for copies on vinyl in the near future.

HUMAN COMPOST

HUMAN COMPOST cover art

COUNTRY: FRANCE
FFO: NOT GONNA SAY IT HERE

as far as im concerned, when it comes to melodic crust theres tragedy and from ashes rise and then theres everything else. human compost are one of the few that blur that line. I didn't want to use tragedy or from ashes rise as a comparison in the header because honestly theres a million clones out there and when I hear that comparison I usually pass on that band. not because I don't respect using those bands as influence, because they are truly elite bands and have their place on the imaginary great band totem pole in my head, but because most who attempt that style just come off boring and its kind of a "already heard this a 1000 times" thing. human compost doesn't fall into that category. they take take that melodic crust template and use it as the backbone for what theyre doing. that melodic crust holds up they other infuences here. these guys add in a lot grind and death elements but I think the one thing that sets them apart is the guitar work. I mean really a lot of these riffs sound they could have been ripped right off of trustkill or ferret or eulogys late 90s roster. back when metalcore was great before the army of killswitch engages came along and crapped it up. I love that era of metalcore. it was a big part of my youth. endeavor, harvest, torn apart, morning again, and the list goes on and on. whether its intentional or not I don't know but human compost channels that era perfectly. these guys have been around since 2006 and have all their release up for nyp on their bandcamp. get in this shit now.

IAMTHETHORN

COUNTRY: USA
FFO: DOOOOOOMM

this is another one of those bands that put out oh so few but ridiculously fantastic recordings. this was aaron edge (from 100s of bands) and johnny pettibone (undertow, himsa, heiress). came out somewhere near the end of himsas run. ive always been a fan of pettibones vocals but this doom atmosphere fits it perfect. it keeps it fresh. don't misunderstand the doom label here either. these aren't 16 minute boring drone fests. some of it is very slow but in the best way possible. the riffs of fucking phenomenal. I have a tendency to try pick albums apart and find things I don't like. I cant do that here. my one minor complaint would be that there isn't more. that this is short. but honestly maybe that works in it favor. its only 20 minutes or so so theres no real chance to get stale. this is heavy shit. feel it.

THROES - To Dust

Country: USA
Genre: Metal, Punk, Hardcore, Sludge

RATFEATHERS dropped the link for this in the chat a few weeks ago but I wanted to properly mention this release because it fucking rules. I really loved Bone Dance and I was so happy to hear that members of that band had started something new, along with members of Downsided. This thing is really, really good and definitely follows in the footsteps of Bone Dance, so if you were a fan of them, you should definitely grab this. And check out Bone Dance on Bandcamp.

CLOSET WITCH // NATIONAL HERO - Split

Country: USA
Genre: Grindcore, Mathcore, Powerviolence

I've posted about Closet Witch here before because I really dig them. The production is just crazy and in your face and I love the female-fronted vocals. National Hero is in the same vein, and even though this split is super short, I think it's still worth your time.

COUNTRY: USA
FFO: PERMANENT HEARING LOSS

just a quick one here. gonna try to get a couple more up later today but just had to throw this up now. found this a few days ago. came out in may of last year. out of all the demos and debuts ive heard over the last several months this is definitely near the top. dirty, sludgy hardcore. sounds very familiar but also very fresh at the same time. the only thing I can think of off the top of my head to compare it to would be maybe breach or possibly deadguy/kiss it goodbye in spots but really the one that sticks out is yellow king. pretty sure they were posted here a few weeks back so if you missed that shit then get on it. get this too. well worth your 17 minutes.
