Here's a new killer split 12" featuring new material from two of my current favorite post hardcore bands.  Caravels is a five piece post hardcore band who formed in May of 2006.  Caravels play a tense and progressive style of post hardcore mixed with touches of ambient post rock thrown in for good measure.  On their side of the split, Caravels offer up two tracks of tense, urgent, yet somehow hauntingly ambient sounding post hardcore mixed with post rock.  The second two songs come courtesy of Octaves.  Octaves are a five piece post hardcore band from Baltimore, Maryland who formed in 2009.  Octaves play a similar style of music, but with vocals that tend to be more strained and harsh spectrum of things.  Octaves sound is as equally as progressive and the band even throws in the use of an organ to keep things interesting.  Overall, both bands are brilliantly paired up on this split and both bands offer up top notch material for this EP.  Highly recommended!  Enjoy!  This 12" was released via Topshelf and Bridge Nine records on January 27th, 2015.

Ladder Devils are a four piece band from Philadelphia, PA who formed in 2009.  Ladder Devils features former members of one of my all time favorite hardcore bands The Minor Times.  Ladder Devils play a killer style of music that incorporates elements of post hardcore, noise rock, grunge, and sludge.  Since their inception in 2009, Ladder Devils have released a five song EP titled Forget English in October 2010, a 3-way split LP with Kowloon City, and Fight Amp in 2010, a 9 song LP (5 songs being remastered from Forget English) titled Nowhere Plans in June of 2012, and a split 7" with Helms Alee in 2013.  Clean Hands is the band's latest full-length LP, which was released via Brutal Panda records on November 4th, 2014.  On their latest full-length LP, Ladder Devils offer up nine new songs of post hardcore, noise rock, grunge, and sludge that somehow mixes the grunge sounds of bands like Nirvana, the experimentation of bands like the Pixies, with the crunch and heft of bands like Engineer.  Overall, Clean Hands is an amazing album and should not be overlooked!  Highly recommended!  Enjoy!

Ravin is a five piece band from Perpignan, France who formed in 2013.  Ravin play a killer style of music that blurs the lines between hardcore, punk, black metal, crust, and screamo.  Musically, Ravin can be loosely compared to bands such as Black Everest, Todos Caeran, Totem Skin, and Toska.  This is Ravin's debut ten song EP, which was self-released by the band on compact disc on February 9th, 2014.  On their debut EP, Ravin offer up ten tracks of really top notch sounding music that impressively mixes up hardcore, punk, black metal, crust, and screamo.  Look for Ravin to drop their new album which is going to be titled II on April 15th, 2015.  II is going to be released via Zegema Beach, Sad Panda, Winter Sea, and Unlock Yourself records.  In the meantime, check out Ravin's first album.  You'll be glad you did.  Enjoy!

Gay Kiss is a four piece band from Phoenix, Arizona who formed in 2010.  Gay Kiss play a scathing, unhinged, dirty, and blown-out style of noise damaged hardcore.  Since their inception in 2010, Gay Kiss have released a self-titled tour cassette in 2012, a nine song LP titled Fault in December of 2012, a three song tour cassette in 2013, and a two song self-titled tour cassette in the summer of 2014.  Preservation Measures is the band's latest twelve track full-length.  On Preservation Measures, Gay Kiss offer up twelve new tracks of harsh and unhinged noise damaged hardcore that's an absolute must listen for fans of Brown Sugar, Kim Phuc, and Host.  Overall, this album absolutely shreds beyond belief.  Highly recommended!  Enjoy!  Preservation Measures was released via Sorry State records on February 28th, 2015.

Broken Prayer is a five piece band from Chicago, Illinois who formed in 2011 by the looks of things.  Broken Prayer features members of Manipulation, Strangers, Poison Planet, Libyans, and Civic Process.  Broken Prayer play a stripped down, caustic, and unhinged style of hardcore/punk.  Broken Planet's sound is hard to categorize, but features raspy/breathy male and female vocals, unpredictable timing changes, rapid fire drumming, all punctuated by keyboards.  Since their inception, Broken Prayer have released a self-titled demo in 2010, a two song 7" titled WoW/Pull A Kaczynski, and a self-titled full-length LP in 2012.  Misanthropocentric (AKA Droid's Blood) is Broken Prayer's latest full-length LP.  On their latest full-length LP, Broken Prayer offer up twelve new tracks of discordant and tense as fuck sounding modern hardcore/punk.  Overall, Misanthropocentric (AKA Droid's Blood) is a killer LP.  Highly recommended!  Enjoy!
