WVRM is a four piece band from Greenville, South Carolina who formed in 2013.  WVRM play a brutal and vicious as fuck style of music that incorporates elements of hardcore, punk, metal, crust, and grindcore within their sound.  Musically, WVRM can be loosely compared to bands such as Trap Them, Torch Runner, Young And In The Way, SVFFER, and other like-minded bands.  Since forming in 2013, WVRM have released a nine song EP titled Despair in October of 2013, a sixteen song LP titled Swarm Sound in October of 2014, an eight song EP titled Where All Light Dies in February of 2014, a self-titled EP in June of 2015, a split with Self-Harm in September of 2016, an eight song EP titled Heartache in December of 2016, a six song EP titled Can You Hear The Wind Howl in September of 2017, and a split with Waft in August of 2018,  a split with Crewneck in June of 2019, and a fourteen song LP titled Colony Collapse in April of 2020.  Swarm Sound is the reissue of the band's 2014 LP, which was originally released back on October 16th, 2014.  On Swarm Sound, WVRM offer up sixteen tracks of chaotic, volatile, and brutal as fuck sounding hardcore, punk, metal, crust, and grindcore.  Overall, Swarm Sound makes for an amazing listen and definitely should not be missed.  Highly recommended!  Enjoy!

OK, so normally I wouldn't make a post about a streaming track. However, WVRM is one of my favorite bands and this track is incredible. You can read about the details of this recording session at Metalsucks.net, but the tl;dr version is that the band was able to record some stuff with Converge's Kurt Ballou & his Midas Touch. Like I said, it sounds badass, and I hope the rest of the session gets released. WVRM also has a LP coming out soon that you can preview on Youtube. And if you don't know who the hell WVRM is, you need to get your ass over to their Bandcamp page ASAP.

WVRM - Where All Light Dies

This just made my fucking weekend. WVRM literally just released a new album, and it's one of the best things that will ever be featured on this blog. I was completely blown away by their debut 'Despair' late last year, and now, just a few months later, they spew out 8 more songs of hammering crust/hardcore. Unbelievable. The production on this new album is absolutely perfect, in my opinion. You could play this for anyone and tell them it's the newest thing on Southern Lord and no one would question you. If you haven't heard WVRM before, you can expect something akin to The Secret, Nails, Trap Them or Dead In The Dirt. Cassette copies of their debut are still available, I can only hope that this new album gets some sort of physical release as well. For now, you can find it on Bandcamp with a "name your price" option, so feel free to give them some $$$ for all their hard work. While it's far too early to call this a best of 2014 candidate, I can guarantee you that it ends up on my year end list. Excuse me while I go listen to this 100 more times.

Holy God what a devastating EP this is. The band is WVRM (or WORM or WURM, not 100%) and they are from Greenville, SC. You'll be hard-pressed to find any more info about them though. But don't worry about that right now, just sit down and listen to this over and over and over again. This is 9 pulverizing songs that clock in at just under 11 minutes. If there was ever a band that was made for this blog, it is WVRM. As you listen, you'll start thinking of the same descriptors that are at the top of this page: Blackened Hardcore, Crust, D-Beat, Powerviolence, Death & Grind. I don't know what else to say, this shit blew me away. Follow them on Facebook and get this EP immediately either here or for free at their Bandcamp. Fuck.
