Here's a killer split 7" featuring new material from London, UK's Containment and UK's Art Of Burning Water.  Containment is a four piece band from London, UK who formed in 2015, from the looks of things.  Containment play an ugly, volatile, chaotic, and brutal style of music that incorporates elements of hardcore, punk, crust, d-beat, and metal within their sound.  Musically, Containment can be loosely compared to bands such as Geist, Planks, Svalbard, Ancst, and other like-minded bands.  Since forming in 2015, Containment have released a self-titled six song demo in April of 2015 and a four song EP titled Beyond The Witch House in February of 2017.  On their side of the split, Containment offer up two tracks of chaotic and volatile sounding hardcore, punk, crust, d-beat, and metal.  Next up is Art Of Burning Water.    Art Of Burning Water is a three piece UK based band who formed in 2003.  Art Of Burning Water play a chaotic and volatile style of music that incorporates elements of hardcore, punk, crust, sludge, and metal within their sound.  Since forming in 2003, Art Of Burning Water have released a four song EP titled The Combined Stupidity Of Spiteful Men in September of 2003, a ten song LP titled The Voyage Of The Pessimistic Philosoph in March of 2006, a nine song LP titled Head Of The Tempest in June of 2010, an eight song LP titled Love You Dead in March of 2011, an eight song LP titled This Disgrace in January of 2013, a five song EP titled The Humiliation Process in October of 2013, a split with Isolation Tank in August of 2014, a ten song LP titled Living Is For Giving, Dying Is For Getting in November of 2014, a split with Harrowed in January of 2016, a split with Nervous Mothers in April of 2016, a ten song LP titled Between Life And Nowhere in July of 2016, and a split with Nothing Clean in May of 2017.  On their side of the split, Art Of Burning Water offer up two tracks of chaotic and brutal as fuck sounding hardcore, punk, crust, sludge and metal.  Overall, this is a killer EP and definitely should not be missed.  This killer split was released on cassette via Super-Fi records on March 3rd, 2017.

ART OF BURNING WATER - Between Life And Nowhere LP

So apparently this album has been out for a little while but it was never properly announced. So, here it is. I'm pissed I didn't know about this in early July because this is a fantastic LP! If you don't know, Art Of Burning Water is a self-described steroided immigrant noise punk trio from the UK, even though they always come across to me as just good metallic crust. They say "Fuck your 1982 d-beat worship. D-beat went to college. This is PhD-beat infused urban heartcore of the worst kind." This band is pretty prolific too, just go check out all of their releases on their Bandcamp page. In fact, their next LP is already recorded, titled The Heart Can Only Take So Much, so be on the lookout for that if you are into this. But for now, check this out immediately because there isn't a bad song on here. Tons of catchy riffs and an abundance of headbanging heaviness. Order the LP from the links below if you so desire.

if you've been coming to this blog for a while then you should know that there are several bands that are kind of a big deal around here. harrowed is one of those bands. I discovered them thanks to adam. their full length, "into inferno", was hands down the best thing to come out in 2013. it was so mean. so angry. and so fucking perfect. its a dual sledgehammer wielding maniac running around an antique store. smashing everything and laughing and shouting obscenities. its nails playing a little slower and longer. and better. its been a long wait for new material but its so worth it. these 2 tracks just continue windmilling those sledgehammers around. this right here is why we love hardcore.

 

art of burning water have been around for 10 years or so now started off as a kind of mathy sludge band similar to keelhaul or meatjack and slowly over the years have gone more in the crust direction. adding in some slight grind and powerviolence elements along the way. they've definitely gotten better with time. not to say the older stuff was bad. not by any stretch. I just prefer the later recordings. their 3 tracks here are different take on hardcore but every bit as effective as the harrowed side. this 7" drops on Monday so prepare yourselves. and hide your valuables.

I've written about Isolation Tank before, I loved their demo. Thankfully they are still on the same path of noisy destruction. This time it's a split with Art Of Burning Water, an equally caustic outfit also from London. Unlike Isolation Tank, Art Of Burning Water has been around for a while now, but this stuff they are putting out now is just as relevant as it was when they started. They have a ton of releases available for free download on their Bandcamp page. When combined, these bands create a pummeling crust-fest of a 7", highly recommended.
