The Grasshopper Lies Heavy is a band from San Antonio, Texas who formed in 2005. The Grasshopper Lies Heavy plays a killer style of music that incorporates elements of post hardcore, post metal, doom, sludge, and noise rock within their sound. Musically, The Grasshopper Lies Heavy can be loosely compared to bands such as later era Suicide Note, later era Sweet Cobra, Fight Amp, Helms Alee, and like-minded bands. Since forming in 2005, The Grasshopper Lies Heavy has released a split EP with Sohns in June of 2009, a split LP with Hawks in June of 2010, a split EP with God Townes in April of 2012, a five song LP titled Every Man For Himself And God Against All in April of 2014, a six song LP titled All Sadness, Grinning Into Flow in June of 2014, a fourteen song LP titled Cavern in October of 2017, a split LP with Gay Witch Abortion in August of 2018, a thirteen track LP titled Collection I in March of 2019, a cover of Sepultura's Territory in December of 2020, a two song EP titled We Shouldn't Be Here/Facade Of Nicety in February of 2015, and a cover of Jesus Lizard's Mouth Breather in April of 2021. A Cult That Worships A Giod Of Death is the band's latest LP, which was released via Learning Curve records on July 15th, 2021. On A Cult That Worships A God Of Death, The Grasshopper Lies Heavy offer up eight tracks of explosive, tense, and discordant as fuck sounding post hardcore, post metal, doom, sludge, and noise rock.
