So I've been watching my pirated HD versions of The X-Files all day instead of enjoying the nice weather outside and I remembered that I meant to share a cool Etsy shop with you, so here it is. Slimenstein's Mad Science Supply Co. is run by a guy named Christopher in California who had this genius idea of mashing up pop culture with death metal. In the shop you'll find graphic designs on shirts, cards, prints, etc. that feature shows like Freaks & Geeks, Seinfeld and Twin Peaks, most with a hilarious hardcore twist. My favorite is the Nails-inspired X-Files shirts. Anyway, that's all, just thought you guys would dig this. Lots more at the shop:

After another hell week at work, I just wanted to come home and listen to something that would help me zone out and focus my rage. As fate would have it, this little gem came to my attention and it was just what I needed. Rust Harvest is/was a side-project of Highgate, a fantastic doom/black metal band from right here in my hometown of Covington, KY. Children Of The Atom is from 2013 but was just recently made available for download. It isn't something you'd usually see me post about here, but I really loved it. And if you are a fan at all of experimental, lofi noise projects, then this is right up your alley. It's 6 brain crushing tracks clocking in at almost 30 minutes. I'm not really sure if this side project is dead or alive, but at least they left this. And check out Highgate if you need to sink your teeth into some good, old fashioned Kentucky doom. They have a bunch of releases at the same Bandcamp page that you can stream and download.

Bait, from Würzburg, Germany released this 10" over a year ago but recently made it available for download. You can also still purchase the vinyl plus other merch at their Bandcamp page as well. It's a great record that takes a heavier, slower approach to hardcore, but still maintaining that amazing German crust sound. So, if you were waiting for this one to go free, grab it now.

Country: USA
Genre: Hardcore, Punk
Label: Sorry State
Tracks: 10
Length: 17.0'
Dark Ages is a four piece hardcore band from Kansas City, Missouri who formed in 2009 or 2010, from the looks of things. Dark Ages play a dark, raw, and stripped down style of 80's inspired hardcore. Musically, Dark Ages can be said to be influenced by bands such as Poison Idea, Articles Of Faith, and Die Kreuzen. Since their inception, Dark Ages have released two 7"s and a full-length LP titled Can America Survive?, which was released via Sorry State records back in 2011. Vapor is Dark Ages' latest full-length LP, which is an effort that is four years in the making. On their latest LP, Dark Ages have their stripped down 80's inspired hardcore down to a science. Vapor features ten songs in about 17 minutes. These ten songs are visceral, dynamic and chock full of interesting timing changes that keeps the album interesting throughout the entire listen. Seriously if you're a fan of stripped down 80's inspired modern hardcore, then Vapor is definitely an absolute must listen. Overall, Dark Ages have really impressed the hell out of me with their latest LP. Highly recommended! Enjoy! Vapor was released via Sorry State records on February 10th, 2015.
