Daggers - El Mundo Kaput

I love Daggers. They are another band that has been with this blog since the beginning. Imagine if Motorhead was more hardcore punk and you've got Daggers (this is a good thing). They are from Liège, Belgium and have been playing garage-tinged hardcore punk infused with psychedelic rock n' roll noise since 2008. El Mundo Kaput came out April 1, 2026 with three tracks of raw, frantic energy. Live recorded at Jetson Studio, the band delivers nearly 10 minutes of chaotic, riff-heavy punk aggression. Released on Shield Recordings as limited 7" in orange and black variants, 300 copies total. Artwork by Thierry Tönnes capturing the band's unhinged approach.

Genre: Hardcore, Punk, Metal, Noise Rock

Daggers is a four piece band from Liege, Belgium who formed in 2008.  Daggers play a killer style of music that incorporates elements of hardcore, punk, metal, and noise rock within their sound.  Musically, Daggers can be loosely compared to bands such as Rise And Fall, Geist, Direwolves, Cursed. Birds In Row, and other like-minded bands.  Since forming in 2008, Daggers have released a self-titled six song EP in January of 2008, a thirteen song LP titled Along The Acheron in September of 2009, a digital single titled Golden Teacher in January of 2010, a nine song LP titled Euphoria in November of 2011, and a twelve song LP titled It's Not Jazz, It's Blues in March of 2014.  Neon Noir Erotica is the band's latest full-length LP, and the band's first album in six years.  Neon Noir Erotica was released via Throatruiner records on July 17th, 2020.  On Neon Noir Erotica, Daggers offer up twelve tracks of killer hardcore, punk, metal, and noise rock.  Overall, Neon Noir Erotica makes for an awesome listen and definitely should not be missed.  Highly recommended!  Enjoy!

DAGGERS - It's Not Jazz, It's Blues

OK, so I know a lot of other blogs have covered this recent release, but I felt obligated to do so as well because Daggers is one of my favorite bands. I've posted about them before, I suggest you go grab all their previous releases as well as this new one. In fact, they've made all of their old stuff available for free on their Bandcamp page. Anyway, the band is from Belgium and recently signed to the superb Throatruiner Records. Their debut LP on that label is  set to be shipped at the end of March. To be honest, I'm still absorbing this record. It's definitely "Daggers", but there's a complexity about it that takes quite a few listens to grasp and realize. So, maybe I'll just share some words from their bio, it will probably make more sense than me right now.

"During their five years of existence, Belgium's DAGGERS have worked hard on creating unique and singular records to forge a very personal sound. Their new full-length "It's Not Jazz, It's Blues" is an entire different animal than on their crust-infused hardcore previous releases, delivering twelve epic tracks that will drag you down to the bottom of the earth and shred the living out of you with the haste and anger of a thousand rusty swords. Captured in an organic live recording setting, "It's Not Jazz, It's Blues" takes a hypnotic, noisy approach to the band's claustrophobic blend of punk and metal, more ruthless and vicious than ever."

Recently Daggers, from Belgium, announced that they had joined the hardcore family of Throatruiner Records (is there a better name for a label?) and that a new LP entitled "It's Not Jazz, It's Blues" would be coming out this Spring. So, I thought now would be a good time to introduce to anyone not familiar, one of my favorite bands, hands down. Daggers has previously released 1 LP  & 2 CD's, and there's not a bad track on any of them. The one thing that sticks out for me is just how FUCKING GOOD these recordings sound! The mixing of the drums and guitars is absolutely perfect. And then you add the throat ruining vocals (pun intended) that are both soulful and demonic at the same time. The music overall remains at a mid-tempo pace and the guitars are never overly distorted, but it never gets boring and actually gives it a darker feel. I can seriously listen to this band all day long. Get everything below and be on the lookout for their new album.
