Genre:  Punk, Crust, Emo, Doom
Label: Self-Released
Tracks: 6

Anopheli is a seven piece band from Oakland, California who formed in early 2014.  Anopheli features members of Light Bearer, Fall Of Efrafa, Carnist, and Monuments Collapse.  Anopheli play a dark, melancholy, and stark sounding style of music that gives nods to elements of punk, crust, emo, and doom.  The most notable aspect of Anopheli is how the band incorporates the use of strings in their music, which gives their mixture hardcore, crust, and doom a really interesting twist.  Since forming in 2014, Anopheli have released a six song LP titled A Hunger Rarely Sated in April of 2014 and a six song LP titled The Ache Of Want in July of 2015.  This is a re-mastered version of the band's debut A Hunger Rarely Sated, which was re-mastered at Atomic Garden Studio by Jack Shirley and self-released by the band on June 9th, 2020.  On A Hunger Rarely Sated, Anopheli offer up six tracks of dark, gloomy, and stark sounding punk, crust, and emotive doom.  Overall, A Hunger Rarely Sated makes for an awesome listen and definitely should not be missed.  Highly recommended!  Enjoy!

ANOPHELI - A Hunger Rarely Sated

ORIGIN: Oakland, CA, USA via London, England  GENRE: Neocrust, Doom  FORMAT: LP
LINKS: Bandcamp - Facebook
FFO: Fall of Efrafa, Light Bearer, Momentum, Carnist, Eleleth
PURCHASE: Doomrock (UK) & Bandcamp D/L: Zippyshare & Bandcamp below

Anopheli combines elements of doom and neo/emo crust and even manages to involve a Cello into their music, which gives a very extraordinary sound and atmosphere to their first record. Lyrically their songs are about measure, nature and also about the history of native americans and their suppression.

What may be interesting for some: Anopheli has a rather prominent band member as vocalist... Alex CF who is/was the conceptional mastermind behind FALL OF EFRAFA, LIGHT BEARER, MOMENTUM... etc. Alex gave this band his very own touch with his vocals of course, but also with his stunning artworks and his extremely poetic lyrics. Alex himself stated that his music should hit the taste of "...fans of Remains of the day, Daymare, Madame Germen and Ekkaia!"
