Cognizant is a five piece band from Dallas, Texas who formed in 2016, from the looks of things. Cognizant play a killer style of music that incorporates elements of black metal, death metal, and grindcore within their sound. Musically, Cognizant can be loosely compared to bands such as Bandit, Theories, Woundvac, WVRM, and other like-minded bands. Since forming in 2016, Cognizant have released a self-titled LP in August of 2016, a split EP with Bad Rites in April of 2018, a digital single titled Oratorio In Grey for the Discordance Axis tribute in July of 2018, and a split EP with Blurring in March of 2020. This is the band's debut 12" which has finally been released physically via Nerve Altar records on June 5th, 2020. On their self-titled 12", Cognizant offer up nine tracks of vicious, chaotic, and brutal as fuck sounding black metal, death metal, and grindcore. Overall, Cognizant's debut 12" makes for an awesome listen and definitely should not be missed. Highly recommended! Enjoy!
