THE HOOKERS

Back in the mid-late 90's I was in a Punk Rock N' Roll band out of Cincinnati and we used to play with these evil motherfuckers from Lexington, KY all the damn time. We even recorded our first records around the same time and at the same place. As time went on, we ended up leaning towards the Garage-Punk / Stooges end of the spectrum, while The Hookers went on to be a full blown Horror / Biker / Satanic / Punk Rock machine. Think Misfits meets Black Sabbath meets Black Flag. I seem to be missing a few bits and pieces of their discography, mainly live releases and oddball splits, but for the most part, this is it. Disclaimer: Some of the sound quality on this stuff is rough. The early stuff is trashy as fuck anyway, and some of these are my own vinyl rips from years and years ago. A lot of this stuff just isn't easily found anymore as most of them were short-run vinyl releases. But please, if anyone happens to have anything I'm missing, reach out to me. Anyway, I hope you guys like this stuff as much as I do.
From Wikipedia:
The Hookers are an American hardcore punk band based in Louisville, Kentucky. Originally formed in Lexington, Kentucky in 1994 as the Fayette County Hookers, the name was shortened before their first independent release Kiss My Fuckin Ass 7" EP in 1996. Their first full length album, Satan's Highway, was released on Scooch Pooch records in 1998 and followed closely by the Listen Up, Baby! split LP with Electric Frankenstein in the same year. On various independent labels, The Hookers released two more full length albums: Black Visions of Crimson Wisdom in 1999 and Equinox Beyond Tomorrow Volume 1 in 2001. The band recorded the Blood Over Germany live album in 2001 on Century Media Records. After 2001, The Hookers were considered to be inactive as their heretofore intensive touring and release schedule was curtailed. Their song "The Legend of Black Thunder" was included on Tony Hawk's Underground videogame soundtrack in 2003. In 2008, the band put out an ersatz greatest hits record of live and unreleased tracks titled Ripped From The Crypt and once again became active with multiple EP and split EP releases. The Hookers have described their own sound as combining the "thunder of Blue Cheer, the speed of Motörhead and the teachings of Anton Lavey" The Hookers can also be favorably compared to similar cross over thrash punk bands, such as Zeke and Antiseen, with the major guitar sound and vocal delivery being cribbed from heavy metal. Lead vocalist Adam Neal (aka Rock n' Roll Outlaw) credits having watched the film Werewolf vs The Vampire Women 27 times in a row as being influential in creating the image and lyrics of the band. The Hookers make extensive use of Satanic, sexual, fantastic and mythological imagery in their lyrics, as well as frequently referencing horror films, Vikings and biker culture.

Country: USA
Genre: Post Punk,Death Rock
Label: Wharf Cat Records
Tracks: 7
Length: 36.0'
The Ukiah Drag are a five piece post punk, slowcore, indie rock, and no wave band from Florida and transplanted to New England who formed in 2013, by the looks of things. The Ukiah Drag play a dark, foreboding, and sinister sounding style of music that seamlessly combines elements of post punk, indie rock, and dark rock n' roll music within their sound. Musically, The Ukiah Drag can be said to be influenced by bands such as Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds, Iggy And The Stooges, and The Velvet Underground, and possibly The Doors. The Ukiah Drag's sound has a psychedelic quality that's reminiscent of being lost somewhere in the desert night maybe in Arizona somewhere at 3 in the morning. The Reaper's Quarters is the band's latest full-length LP, which was released via Wharf Cat records in September of 2014. The Reaper's Quarters features seven tracks of stark and foreboding tracks of rock n' roll laced post punk that's an absolute must listen for fans of Neon Blud, Destruction Unit, and other like minded musical misanthropes. Overall, The Reaper's Quarters is a dark and unsettling listen. Highly recommended! Enjoy!
