GRIMFIST

LOCATION: OSLO, NORWAY
YEARS ACTIVE: 2001-?
FFO: THE THRASHIEST OF THRASTASTIC THRASHINESS

reign in blood. master of puppets. spreading the disease. horrorscope. fabulous disaster. the new order. all thrash classics. everyone agree? good. one albums missing. grimfists 2003 offering "ghouls of grandeur". damn right I said it. it belongs on this list. grimfist was a criminally under rated and overlooked band. could be because at the time they showed up the metal world was flooded with killswitch engages and unearths and a million other bands that all sounded exactly the same. I think there was a lot of metal fatigue starting to set in. grimfist were nothing like those bands. they quietly put out 2 of the decades best metal albums in 2003 and 2005 and then seem to have just as quietly disappeared. sad really. they deserved better. everyone ive introduced these guys to still loves them. my kids, ages 17, 15, and 14, love them. they've introduced grimfist to their friends. I'm passing them on to you. you need to do the same.

alright so this might be the best thing to show up in my inbox since I started contributing to this blog. dark, melancholic, atmospheric folk doom. theres a note on the bandcamp page stating that this is about the dark side of being human. lyrics are all in Russian, which I obviously don't speak, but its highly likely I would have drawn that conclusion without that little note. the music here does the speaking as far as I'm concerned. and its message is a bleak one. cant wait for more of this. physical releases are planned so as soon as I hear when and how ill pass it on. nyp on bandcamp. don't pass on this.
