For their second LP "Only Love", Detroit punk/hardcore/experimental collective THE ARMED returned to GodCity Studio to work with Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou as executive producer. Continuing their signature process of collaborating with different drummers on each release, this time THE ARMED recruited Ben Koller (Converge, Killer Be Killed, Mutoid Man, All Pigs Must Die). The partnership led to an entirely new creative approach for the record, one that allowed them to achieve their most wildly innovative work to date. The goal for "Only Love" was to reach an overwhelming level of intensity without referencing the typical tent poles of the genres they're associated with. By imagining they had never heard punk, metal or hardcore and limiting references to pop and the music of their youth, THE ARMED were able to arrive at an incredibly intense, but wildly unique reinterpretation of aggressive music.

Three years removed from their debut LP, "Untitled" — an album that gained recognition from the likes of Fader, NPR, Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, Noisey, AV Club and many more — "Only Love" proves to be a nonlinear progression within the collective's catalog, and they continue to demonstrate that we will never know what to expect from them. Holy shit...this is fucking awesome.!! True Love is a Straight Edge Hardcore band from Detroit, Michigan which formed in the beginning of 2013. The lineup now features a member of Forced Order & Disgrace as a co-guitarist. 'The Pact' is True Love's second full-length album released through Triple B Records on march 20, 2018. This is another killer release on which True Love are celebrating their brand of razor-sharp, straight edge fueled Hardcore. It perfectly combines their early-2000's Boston Hardcore worship with the aggression and ferocity of Los Angeles Hardcore. Definitely not to be missed.! Highly recommended.!!

Great Reversals are a five piece band from Detroit, Michigan who formed in 2009.  I've been a long time fan of this band since first reviewing their earlier releases on Elementary Revolt and Manic Compression, so it's really cool to see how Great Reversals have evolved over the past eight years.  Great Reversals play a killer style of music that incorporates elements of modern hardcore, 90's influenced metallic hardcore, post hardcore, and post rock within their sound.  Musically, Great Reversals can be said to be influenced by bands such as Killing The Dream, Give Up The Ghost, Modern Life Is War, Quicksand, Burn, and other like-minded bands.  Since forming in 2009, Great Reversals have released a self-titled demo in November of 2009, a split 7" with They Come In Waves in October of 2010, a split 7" with Sunlight Ascending in January of 2014, a three song 7" titled Natural Burial in April of 2014, and a two song demo titled La Promo in October of 2015.  Mere Mortals is Great Reversals' debut full-length LP, which was released via Hydrogen Man records on May 1st, 2016.  On Mere Mortals, Great Reversals offer up eleven tracks of heavy as fuck sounding metallic hardcore, post hardcore, and post rock.  Overall, Mere Mortals is a killer LP and should not be missed.  Highly recommended!  Enjoy!
