Perturbator has always been in my top 5 synthwave artists. His stuff is always super heavy, super polished and just sounds great overall. The cover artwork for his albums is also usually pretty badass. It's been a while since we got a Perturbator release, the last one being 2017 's "New Model" EP, but here we are almost 4 years later and we have brand new Perturbator to enjoy with the "Lustful Sacraments" 2xLP. Now, I've only listened to this once so far, so I need to do a deeper dive, but this new release is much more subdued than past releases, which quite frankly bums me out a bit. Don't get me wrong, it's beautiful and VERY atmospheric, and it was awesome to have it in the background today while I was working. But I was hoping for something that would knock the door down if you know what I mean. The synths were very eerie and very cool, but there was not much of a driving "beat" on this album. The best way I can describe it after one listen is to imagine if David Lynch did the soundtrack to Blade Runner. I hope that makes sense. Either way you should check it out, and download it, because it's fucking FREE. Or name your price, at least.

What more can I say about Soft Kill, other than saying that they're probably one of the best bands playing modern gothy post punk these days. After putting out two amazing albums last year and an amazing new two song 7" earlier this year, Soft Kill are back with their latest nineteen song live album. These nineteen songs were performed live a few months ago at the Crystal Ballroom, in Portland, Oregon as a live stream concert celebrating the ten year anniversary of their debut album An Open Door.
