Holy fuck! This album absolutely smokes, is a much needed, and fun listen after the way the past three weeks have been going for me and probably a lot of you both stateside in the US and worldwide. Gaythiest is a three piece band from Portland, Oregon who formed in
2011. Gaythiest play a killer style of music that incorporates elements
of hardcore, punk, metal, grunge, and noise rock within their sound.
Musically, Gaythiest can be loosely compared to bands such as Karp, The
Rye Coalition, Torche, early Mastodon, and other like-minded bands.
Since forming in 2011, Gaythiest have released a twelve song LP titled
Pentagrams Are Super in March of 2011, an eight song EP titled Rainbows
Have Nothing To Hide in July of 2011, a twelve song LP titled Stealth
Beats in August of 2012, a two song EP titled MANhattan in March of
2013, a twelve song LP titled Hold Me Tight...But Not So Tight in May of
2013, a split EP with BABYGURL in May of 2015, a twelve song LP
titled GAY*BITS in August of 2015, and a fifteen song LP titled Let's Jam Again Soon in June of 2017. How Long Have I Been On Fire? is the band's
latest full-length LP, which is slated for release via Hex records on April 10th, 2020. On How Long Have I Been On Fire?, Gaythiest offer up thirteen tracks of
ultra heavy, raucous, hilarious, and wild sounding hardcore, punk,
metal, grunge, and noise rock. Overall, How Long Have I Been On Fire? makes for
an amazing listen and definitely should not be missed. Highly
recommended! Enjoy!
